Narcos (Season 2): High on its own Supply

You don't just stop Pablo Escobar from escaping prison.

The Basics:
Who’s in it? Wagner Moura, Boyd Holbrook, Pedro Pascal, others

Synopsis: Escaped drug lord Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura) tries to evade law enforcement and rival cartels, all while trying to keep his family and empire together. DEA Agents Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook) and Javier Pena (Pedro Pascal) ramp up their efforts, along with the Colombian government, to kill Escobar. Here’s the trailer.

Disclaimer: I’m assuming you’ve seen the first season already. If you haven’t I don’t know why you’re here.

Narcos is on cocaine. Constantly talking, and always moving. It’s highly enjoyable, but not exactly “good.” It’s the show for people that thought Breaking Bad was great and all, but just too slow.  Between the voice-over narration and countless scenes of exposition, it’s almost like a Wikipedia version of a show. But it allows it to cover a huge story and a lot of ideas in a short period of time, without skipping out on the pulpy, violent aspects of the best crime shows/movies. Narcos knows what kind of show it is and doesn't try to be anything else or more.

Watch it if you like: Gangster movies, crime movies, anything related to the drug trade, rise and fall biopics

My Rating: 7/10
